The Garden at Sugar Hill
Sugar Hill is our permanent home. This is where we will build a home and garden from the ground up on Kentucky land. Sugar Hill is being designed with intention. I’m relying on my years of experience gardening in Michigan and the ongoing experiments at Rabbit Run. There are no mature beds here yet, no settled soil, no history. This is the record of a garden under development.
Merging Home & Garden
Sugar Hill is designed with an Arts & Crafts spirit, merging the garden with the living space. The house aligns perfectly with the mighty oak. We want the garden to contribute to the interior space and provide a haven from a noisy world.
The Trees At Sugar hill
Sugar Hill is blessed with many large, ancient trees including oaks and hickories. Our priority is to be good stewards of this land and these ancient trees so they are here for future generations.
Wildflower Meadows
Sugar Hill started as grazing land for cattle. The fields are filled with wildflowers teaming with insects, butterflies, and bees. Maintaining these important sources of pollen and habitat is crucial for the future of Sugar Hill.
