My Michigan Garden

I Created a Garden
for All seasons

Spring

The Spring growing season was unpredictable. Spring in my garden was greeted with hellebores, daffodils, trout lilies, and snow drops. The blooms on the Forest Pansy red buds were always the highlight of the season.

Summer

By mid June, my Michigan garden was coming into its own. The summer months were filled with Annabelle hydrangeas, Japanese maples, phlox, and biennials like Rose Campion (Lychnis Atrosanguinea).

Autumn

As the growing season winded down, the Japanese anemones bloomed in shades of pink and white. The Annabelle hydrangeas turned bright green and the leaves changed into golden hues.

Winter

Rosemary Verey wrote, “A garden in winter is the absolute test of the true gardener.” In my Michigan garden, I relied on evergreens and structure to carry the design through the winter.
