February is the perfect month to make plans for the upcoming garden season. It’s always a challenge to narrow down your choices and make those final decisions, isn’t it? What plants to use, what color scheme, what style? There’s a lot to think about.

Design Inspiration in the Toronto Music Garden
The Toronto Music Garden was created in 1999 by landscape architect Julie Moir Messervy in collaboration with renowned cellist Yo Yo Ma and the City of Toronto. It’s the perfect space to find design inspiration for your garden.
Her garden was inspired by Cello Suite No.1 in G Major, BWV 1007 by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Broken into six sections connected with a series of curving paths, the garden represents the 6 movements of the musical suite: The Prelude, Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Menuets, and Gigue. Ms. Messervy explains that “… the six garden ‘movements’ flow from the different moods evoked by the music…”

Terra Nova Nurseries Display Garden
If you’re looking for photographs showing clever plant combinations, check out Terra Nova Nurseries’ website. I stumbled onto their website quite by accident when I was searching for new shade-tolerant plants. The site is filled with tons of helpful garden information and design inspiration.
